Day 8: Osaka

Waiting for the aquarium

I didn’t know the aquarium was timed entry so had to kill a few hours, but fortunately there was a nice outdoor space to relax, plus a mall/food court.

Left: factory demo store for all the fake food displays outside restaurants; Right: some beef noodles from the food court. Unfortunately, I think the fake food would have tasted better.

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

Osaka has an amazing aquarium. You start at 8 stories up and spiral your way down, to see the large tanks at different levels. Highlights were the massive whale sharks, penguins, seals and sea otters, and the jellyfish.

Got some “whale shark” soft serve on the way out. Pretty sure it didn’t contain any actual whale shark.

Kani Doraku Dotonbori

For some reason I can’t readily identify, I felt like seafood for dinner. I went to Kani Doraku, a popular, if touristy spot in Dotonbori for a multi-course crab feast. It was… ok. I think I prefer my crab steamed with some Old Bay.

Overnight Ferry
