Starting the day with soufflé pancakes from Sakura Café Hanon

Arashiyama Bamboo Forest

You would think the pouring rain would minimize the crowd, but alas…

The bamboo forest itself was a bit underwhelming, but there was a nice scenic overlook and a Japanese garden a bit off the main path.

Steak Otsuka

I think I made a mistake by ordering the roast beef set menu. Some people that came in after me had better looking steaks. Still it was pretty good. Tender steak with a sweet onion sauce.

Nijo Castle

Could have skipped the castle. The grounds around it are nice, but the inside (which you aren’t allowed to photograph) wasn’t that interesting.

Konbini Sando

The convenience store egg salad sandwiches are apparently big on TikTok. I think they can stay there.
