Day 2: Tokyo
Lots of things are closed in Tokyo on Mondays, but spent the day wandering around and exploring.

Many dog statues. The dog on the right has an honorary doctorate.
Tsujiki Fish Market
One of the things in all the guidebooks is to go to the fish market to see the tuna auction. Unfortunately, a few years ago they moved the auction to a different location and you have to enter a lottery for tickets, and even then can only observe through a double pane glass window, so not really with it. The old fish market is mostly a tourist area now, but still had some good paces to eat so I went to check it out.

Wandering

Tarekatsu Shibuya
My hotel had a free beer happy hour, and after that a small group of us went to get some katsudon — breaded and fried pork cutlet (and shrimp in my case) served over rice with various condiments..

Golden Gai
A popular, kind of seedy drinking area in Shinjuku, which is a series of narrow alleys filled with 2 stories of tiny little bars (like 5-8 seats) with different themes.

The jug with the red top is homemade plum wine which they ladled out generously
