Day 14: Basque Country
The Guggenheim
I didn’t really care for either of the main temporary exhibits, which were a Ruth Asawa retrospective, and something about the Earth.

The permanent collections and the building itself on the other hand, were incredible.

I remember there was a Dan Brown book where a key plot point is Robert Langdon being chased (or chasing?) someone though these Richard Serra spiral sculptures. Totally ridiculous, but they were cool to see.

The river outside get periodically blanketed in smoke

For lunch, a few pintxos from the Guggenheim café.

Getxo Hike
Rainy 5 mile hike along the cliffs north of Bilbao.

Ended at a beach where there were a lot of surfers.

Took an Uber back to my car and then off to…
San Sebastián

A couple of quick pintxos from a bar right next to my hostel. I thought the one was eggplant when I ordered it, but turned out to be blood sausage, not that I’m complaining. The other was somehow all in one: jamón, hard boiled egg, artichoke, anchovy and olive. They were both excellent, and hit the spot before I had to jump on a 2-hour zoom call (my only work of the trip).
Unfortunately, after the call, not much was open at 11:30pm on a Tuesday, at least not close by, so grabbed a döner and called it a night.
